Dispute Deadline Calculator

Enter a transaction or statement date and the deadline windows for a retrieval request, a representment, a pre-arbitration and arbitration are calculated against the published network timelines.

How this tool works

Each network publishes a set of dispute windows measured from the transaction or from the statement date, depending on the reason code. Retrieval requests must be answered before a chargeback can be raised. Chargebacks must be represented within a further window. Pre-arbitration, where the liability shift is contested, is a short window on top of that. The calculator adds the published number of days to your chosen start date so you can plan the queue rather than discover the date.

When to use it

Frequently asked questions

When does the clock start?

It depends on the reason code. Some windows run from the transaction date, others from the statement date.

Is the window the same on every network?

No. Each network publishes its own schedule and some reason codes have their own shorter deadlines.

What happens if I miss the deadline?

The liability shift is normally applied automatically and the dispute cannot be represented.

Should I always use the longest window?

No. Use the window for the specific reason code you received, not the maximum.
